Waka Pounamu

Last Wednesday 21st June, we had a visit from the Rotorua Library and Waka Pounamu. Waka Pounamu is a van that has been 'decked' out with lots of digital tools - the Kakariki group worked with Charisma and Julie researching their topic of interest which was the Tarawera eruption. The librarians showed our group how to use key words to find information using 'any questions'. Librarians man the 'any questions' website, these librarians can be located anywhere within Aotearoa and they are available to answer questions from 1pm - 6pm. Our group thought of a number of questions that we would like answered - or to know more information about. The librarians don't answer the questions but they do guide us to places where we can find the answers by researching our key words. The tamariki had lots of fun learning about key words, finding information and reading our questions and information gathered. Whaea Vanessa and Whaea Glenis had just as much fun learning how to research topics as the children did.

Ngā mihi,
Whaea Rangipaeroa.
